Wrestling a Wild Gerbil
On Tuesday in my blog, I said that if I had to fight a wild animal bare-handed, I 'd want to go with something like a wild gerbil. But I didn't know if wild gerbils actually existed.
Elite Team member Rick, of Pensacola, decided to do some research for me and found out all about wild gerbils. It turns out that all pet gerbils descend from the original wild gerbils in Mongolia and Manchuria, which as we all know, is somewhere near China. A few interesting facts about the Mongolian gerbil:
The Mongolian gerbil has few natural enemies in its native habitat, other than birds of prey
The gerbil's jumping abilities are often used in attacking rival gerbils (or defending against them)
At times gerbils communicate with foot drumming
The Mongolian gerbil can breed from the age of three months and the gestation period is only twenty four days
As their native habitat is desert region, they produce very little urine or perspiration
Thanks, Rick. We are all much better educated now. I would definitely be willing to fight a gerbil, now that I better know my opponent.
